Demographics
The population is slightly older than the Australian average. The number of children under 19 was 5% lower than the national average, but the numbers in the 50-64 age range was 7% higher and 6% more in the over 65 range.
Ethnically and with respect to religion, the area is very 'traditional', with 95.44% of residents from Anglo-Saxon backgrounds, and 86% being Christians. In 1881 the ratio of owner occupied to rental properties was 25%-75%. In 1993 that ratio was 56%-44%. The national average for rental accomodation is 26.7%. The names of the owners for both years are all Anglo Saxon. Most homes have 2 or 3 bedrooms with 1 or 2 (or 3) persons resident. 70% are separate houses, 18% semi-detached, 11.7% flats or apartments.
