The comments and references for the Australia Street sites are partial and selective. Local libraries and institutions such as schools, hospitals, local councils, police stations and local businesses all have records which they keep themselves or else have transferred to central archives, State Libraries, etc.

The references we have gathered in the attached pages from both public and private sources reflect the limitations of time and resources available to us. The sites outside New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory have suffered particularly because of a shortage of resources that we could devote to their collection. Generally the references should be taken as an indication of the sorts of materials that would be available to further research.
