I'd lived in what, thirteen different places in Canberra so that was what my biggest criterion was: that we get a reasonable size block of land. The method of building is that they come in and clear absolutely everything around the countryside, and so you just end up with hard-packed dirt and a brick veneer house stuck in the middle of a dirt patch, and so you take it from there. We decided that we'd lived in some really crappy rented apartments, and when we got this place it was going to be ours and we were going to do it the way we wanted.
